Biosecurity & Ecology
Pest animals have had a significant impact on New Zealand’s native wildlife – driving some to extinction while pushing others close to it, preying on our birds, insects and mammals, taking over food sources and invading and degrading habitat.
At BioSense our experience in monitoring and managing pest animals can tell landowners what is on their land, what impact it is having and provide recommendations and tools to get results.
We conduct surveillance to gather data and establish pest animal presence and absence, density, and impact, and make management recommendations based on our findings. We also undertake the control of pest animals via robust, best practice methods that are effective and humane.
With an experienced core team and a range of specialised contractors to call on, BioSense can take on small and large-scale projects. We have a robust infrastructure in place and experience across a range of landscapes including native forest and private land, and harder to reach places like rough terrain, cliff faces and the forest canopy.
We are guided by best practice, research and innovation and we have experience with aerial surveillance, on-the-ground monitoring, camera monitoring and observational surveillance.
We will plan, execute and manage every aspect of your project to meet your needs and keep you informed at every step, working with you to get the best results.
